About Conversations with F. Sionil Jose
In 2016, A Dialogue with F. Sionil Jose was launched in the Libraries where National Artist for Literature F. Sionil Jose talked about the art and obscenity of fiction, and literary criticism as well as the teaching of and the symbolism of allegory in literature. This year, The Libraries is bringing back the master storyteller in Conversations with F. Sionil Jose, where he will engage the youth of today in conversations with well-known personalities on various fields like literature, art, film, and politics.
About the Speakers
National Artist for Literature and multi-awarded author F. Sionil Jose served as writer-in-residence and faculty member of De La Salle University. He is the founder of the Philippine chapter of the international organization PEN (Poets, Playwrights, Essayists, Novelists) and runs the Solidaridad Bookshop.
Upon her retirement as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of the Philippines, Justice Conchita Carpio-Morales was appointed as Ombudsman of the Republic of the Philippines in late July 2011. Her appointment was announced by President Benigno S. Aquino III during his second State of the Nation Address in July 2011, making her the fifth Ombudsman since the Office of the Ombudsman became operational in May 1988. Ombudsman Carpio-Morales holds the distinction of being the first woman magistrate to administer the oath of office of a Philippine President.
