[Panel Discussion] #StudyintheUS Series: How are the US Universities championing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA)? In-Person

About the Session

This information session will cover the best practices of select U.S. universities in advocating for diversity and inclusion. By the end of the session, attendees should be able to:

  • Increase understanding of the concepts surrounding DEIA in education;
  • Familiarize themselves with the DEIA strategies of the U.S. universities and apply them in the local setting;
  • Empower themselves and others to advocate for DEIA; and
  • Collaborate with U.S. university representatives and learn more and learn more about the offerings for students and faculty members at their respective universities.

Target Audience

  • DLSU Community members;
  • High school students and guidance counselors of public schools and/or small-private schools;
  • School Administrators; 
  • Individuals interested in studying in the United States; and
  • Advocates of diversity and inclusion.

Roana Marie Flores is an academic service faculty at De La Salle University, Manila, and is currently working as an Associate American Corner Librarian. She has been a dynamic library and information science (LIS) practitioner for over seven years with experience in school, academic, and the National Library of the Philippines. Her work experience comprises event management, information literacy, public relations and marketing, community outreach, and social and cultural services aimed at people from all walks of life, especially the underserved population. She has presented to various local and international conferences and has been actively publishing research works in reputable journals. Her research interests include library programming, inclusivity and diversity, and library management.
