[ExperienceUSA] The Power of Tunes: Music as a Form of Soft Power and Diplomacy In-Person
This learning session celebrates Soft Power and Public Diplomacy through music, broadening participants’ understanding of how music functions as a diplomatic tool across nations. Using examples from the United States, South Korea, and Latin America, the session explores how music becomes an instrument of persuasion, identity projection, and cultural connection. Participants will also be guided to apply information and digital literacy skills in analyzing how music is produced, disseminated, and consumed across media platforms that influence public opinion and international image-building.

Event Organizer
Roana Marie Flores is an academic service faculty at De La Salle University, Manila, and is currently working as an Associate American Corner Librarian. She has been a dynamic library and information science (LIS) practitioner for over seven years with experience in school, academic, and the National Library of the Philippines. Her work experience comprises event management, information literacy, public relations and marketing, community outreach, and social and cultural services aimed at people from all walks of life, especially the underserved population. She has presented to various local and international conferences and has been actively publishing research works in reputable journals. Her research interests include library programming, inclusivity and diversity, and library management.
